The film tells the true story of Mike (Hugh Jackman) and Claire Sardina (Kate Hudson), struggling musicians who form the band Lightning and Thunder together in 1987 and become well known during their peak in the 1980s and 1990s. Both divorced with children when they first meet, they form a romance and marry in 1994, blending their families together.
