Anat, a poetry-loving elementary school teacher and single mother, eagerly awaits her son Ido’s army discharge and the joint trip they planned to India. But on the long-awaited day, a soldier is abducted on the Lebanese border and a new war breaks out in Israel. Her father, Yaakov, a war-traumatized veteran, deteriorates, and Ido calls to say that all discharges have been canceled.
Anat sets out to bring him home, and after pleading with officials, Ido suddenly returns. She’s overjoyed—until she learns he’s only home for the night to demand she stop interfering. Her spirit breaks when she discovers that he volunteered to fight and that discharges were never truly frozen. Their once-symbiotic relationship begins to unravel. Ido returns to the border as the conflict escalates. Trapped between her father and her son, Anat decides to take matters into her own hands and stop the tragedy—just before Ido crosses into Lebanon.
Netalie Braun's anti-war film ""Oxygen"" took the top prize at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
